Call someone you love (yes, today)

Not a text, not a heart on a photo. Five minutes of an actual voice. It’s the smallest big thing on our list.

By The TJD Editors · · 2 minute read

Two speech bubbles, one holding a leaf and one a rising sun, with a small heart above.

We text all day. We react, we forward, we heart. And somehow it’s possible to go weeks without hearing the voice of someone we love.

So here’s today’s assignment, and it’s a small one: call someone.

Who

The friend you keep meaning to catch up with. Your aunt. Your old roommate. The neighbor who moved. Whoever popped into your head as you read that sentence.

How long

Five minutes is plenty. You don’t need a reason. “I was thinking about you” is a complete reason.

If it feels awkward

It might, for about twenty seconds. Then it usually doesn’t. If they don’t pick up, leave a short voicemail with one specific thing you like about them. People save those.

Why it’s on a wellness site

Because feeling connected is part of feeling well, and this is the cheapest, quickest way we know to get a little more of it. Try it today, and notice how you feel when you hang up.

Feel the Joy, baby.
